The Blue Ridge Ball

The Blue Ridge Ball is the oldest consecutive running charity event in New York City, now 106 years old. What gives it this distinction is that other organizations suspended fund raising events during WWI, WWII and the depression, many never to revive. The New York Auxiliary’s members are exceptionally proud of the fact that nothing in world events (wars, financial depressions or terrorist attacks)  has interrupted their support for the school over its entire history. During my time planning this event, we held the ball at The St. Regis, The Pierre, The Colony Club and The University Club. The style is traditional – long ball gowns, formal dining preceded by cocktails and a finale of dancing to the Alex Donner Orchestra. There is always a theme that is quite whimsical and beautiful invitations.
