Moody Black Roses Once considered the exclusive domain of goth culture or Halloween decorations, black roses are starting to show up as color options in some ultra modern, avant-garde interior designs. There are 3 ways you can dye these lovelies the “Pro” way. Design Masters has 3 products suited for flowers: 1. Color them inside out with Absorbit. This is the least messy way and you have to leave the product in for up to two hours for them to change color. 2. Immerse fresh flower heads into Dipit. This will take more skill, as you have to immerse the flower heads into the dye then rinse away excess color. 3. Spray paint them with Design Masters Color Tool spray. I took this route. Apply one coat for the “Ombre” look pictured left. For solid black, go with two coats. Spray 15-18 inches away from the flower. Make sure you have newspaper down to catch excess. These products can be found through local floral retailers or design/hobby shops. I took a trip downtown to the LA Floral District, which is a one-stop shop for everything and loads of flowers. The early bird catches the worm, so plan your trip early.
