Reminiscing America I recently had the opportunity to produce an event at Disney Studios here in LA, called the “GI Film Fest.” It is a two-day festival and is the nation’s preeminent military entertainment showcase. GIFF’s mission is to preserve the stories of American GI’s through film, television and gaming: to connect service-members to civilian society and to help prepare military veterans for success in the entertainment industry. LA is more than an appropriate place to host, but they also do festivals in Washington, D.C. and New York City and have for 7+ years now. Today is the day we hopefully take a moment to stop and thank those who have served our country. We live in a free country and there’s much to be grateful for. Many creative ideas have hatched during war times as well – art, recipes, books, film, cocktails and other ideas, as it tends to impact emotions. I’m sharing a few DIY concepts from US “war times” – the 20’s-70’s. During the Prohibition Era innovative cocktails became popular. Try mixing up the Cider Jack Cocktail – a great winter time drink. In the 1960’s and 70’s Fondue Parties became popular, during the Vietnam war, thus communal dining came about. War time soups were advertised during the 1940’s and Campbell’s was the major producer. Reuse those cans for decorative planters. Here’s the FULL COLLAGE of INSPIRATION on PINTEREST: http://www.pinterest.com/bonvivantgirl/reminiscing-america/
