Weekend Picks: Wines & Bubbly
Whether your invited to someone’s home for the weekend, or hosting yourself, here are a few picks I discovered this week. While in New York City, I always stop in my favorite neighborhood wine shop, Premier Cru Wine Merchants. Owner, Michael Eigen brings in a well-edited selection of wines from around the world, often choices you would not find in other stores.
Here’s what’s in my star-spangled bag for July 4th!
Top Pick! — a limited edition summer bottle each year that captures the spirit of the season. This year’s bottle was inspired by seaside dreams and poolside parties, with a chic nautical vibe. Chandon’s limited edition summer bottle is available through Labor Day. Jonathan Adler has design a special edition acrylic tray to match.
Bartenura Moscato — Crisp and refreshing, semi sweet, with lingering pear, tangerine, nectar and melon flavors on the finish. Perfect with dessert or fresh fruit, or sipping poolside.
Rhone Blend from Spain — Lovely deep, dark purple-red, Can Blau Montsant 2012. Smooth and fruity initial burst with classic raspberry and black cherry bouquet and flavors. Pairs with just about anything, especially grilled meats.
